SHE'S ABOUT THAT LIFE: SKINCARE SECRETS

23.5.16

Hi guys, how is everyone?

Around this time last year, I developed a serious obsession with all things skincare. I had always loved skincare, but the obsession got REAL. I completely overhauled the products I was using and developed an actual routine. In recent weeks, I've been feeling pretty uninspired with my routine, and have been slacking of a tad in the skin routine department. I'm the kind of person who loves trying out new products and gets bored of using the same thing for an overly extended period of time. It's the same with makeup for me too, the amount of foundations I own, but yet I still complain about needing a new one haha. Don't get me wrong there are some products I'll always go back to but for the most part I like mixing things up a little.
So when I was approached my FARFETCH beauty asking if I wanted to write about my skincare routine, I was all for it. Today I will be talking about the products I'm currently using as well as some products from FARFETCH Beauty, amongst other places, that I NEED in my life.

CLEANSER
My current cleansers are the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and the Clinique Soap cleanser, which I received in a set with my Clinique cleansing brush. I'll save you the poetic waxing on about the EH cleanser as it's so well talked, blogged and vlogged about, but guys, it is seriously as fabulous and sweet smelling as everyone says.
The Cleansers I've been dying to get my hands on are the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which I finally had the chance to try out in person recently in Space NK and is absolutely lovely, and the Aurelia Probiotic Miracle Cleanser, which my sister bought recently and assures me it's as amazing as I dream about.

TONER
My 'toner' is normally Caudalie Grape Water or La Roche Posay Serozinc. I've been using both of these for over a year now and they're great. They work really well, are inexpensive and give your skin that extra boost of hydration. I also love applying my serum/moisturiser whilst my skin is still damp from using them as it provides a better absorption rate.
Okay admittedly this is a massive splurge but in an ideal world I would purchase the Chantecaille Pure Rosewater. It sounds so dreamy! At £50 I know its a lot of money, but it's definitely a splurge item. A cheaper option I'll probably be purchasing soon is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe & Rosewater, which also sounds lovely.

I don't currently use an 'acid toner' (I uses Liquid Gold as a serum/treatment), but I will definitely be investing in a bottle of Pixi Glow Tonic in the extremely near future as I want to start using an everyday acid as well as more concentrated versions for my serum/treatments.

SERUM/TREATMENT
Serum and treatment wise, my biggest concern are scars from spots, so retinol and acid products are my best friends. I love =Liquid gold by Alpha H, and use that 2/3 time a week in the evening. I also use The Indeed lab Retinol Reface, which I recently blogged about here and the La Roche Posay Redermic.

I think this is where the money needs to be spent. Serum/treatments are what can make a drastic difference to your skin and skin concerns. There are SO many serums I want to try but top of that list has to be Good Genes by Sunday Riley. The amount of people who sing it's praises is unreal and looking at the ingredients I think it'd be perfect for my skin concerns.

OILS
You guys already know what I'm going to say, coconut oil for the win haha. I love love love coconut oil for the skin it just gives you this unbelievable glow! I also use Rosehip oil, which is great for scarring and makes your skin so soft and smooth.

So the oil I currently need in my life is an oil but also falls into the serum treatment category, and its the Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil, which is a 'next generation retinoid sleeping oil'.

MOISTURISER/SPF
I'm currently in between moisturisers at the moment. I have however just been sent a new moisturiser which I've started using and so far so good. SPF wise I usually use the Lancome moisturiser with SPF15 or the La Roche Posay Ultra Light Fluid. SPF's are hard for me because a lot of them create a whiteish layer which on dark skin is a nightmare and can make me look grey/ashy.

So there you have it a round up of what I'm currently using at the moment and what I want*read NEED. I am in the market for a few new skincare items so if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know in the comments!

Don't forget to checkout FARFETCH Beauty, which stocks brands from REN and Oskia to Chantecaille and Eve Lome. They currently have an offer for 10% of your first order so head over and start shopping.

That's all for now folks!

Peace&Love xxxxxx

P.S keep your eyes peeled for an almondy cookie recipe coming your way soon.

*DISCLAIMER* I haven't received any money/goods to write this post. I've shared what I genuinely use day to day and items from farfetch beauty, amongst other places that I genuinely like and want to purchase myself.

  34. So many great products there Tenz! I am currently using The Body Shop's Chamomile cleansing balm and this is my second tub of it - I absolutely love it and the price is excellent as well. On the toner front, there is an amazing brand called Santaverde that nobody talks about but they're amazing and they have a toner with aloe vera (all their products have aloe vera) that is brilliant. I'd highly recommend it :)

  39. Coconut oil = life. I love using really nice skincare products, but I guess they don't work as well when you only use them sporadically and frequently go to bed without washing your face!
