SHE'S ABOUT THAT LIFE: CLINIQUE SONIC SYSTEM PURIFYING CLEANSING BRUSH REVIEW

22.4.16

Happy freaking FriYayyyy guys!

So, courtesy of my mama and Heathrow terminal 3 duty free, I have a review of the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush for you lovely lot. She bought it for me, without prompt (she knows me well), back in December and I've been using it now for a decent amount of time to have reached a conclusive verdict.

What is it?
The Clinique Sonic System Cleansing Brush is a 'dermatologist developed' sonic movement brush that offers 'deep yet gentle cleansing'. It has a tilted head to make usage easier and two different bristle types to target different areas of the face. The white bristles are used for the cheeks and chin, whilst the green bristles are used for the T zone. They recommend changing the brush head every 3 months, and they're priced at £15.

How to use.
I normally remove any make-up I'm wearing with my first cleanse and then use the brush on make-up free skin in my second cleanse. You can apply cleanser directly on to the moistened brush head or straight on to your face. It runs in 30 second cycles and for the first 15 seconds, without applying pressure, you rotate it in a circular motion around your cheeks and chin, being careful not to use it around the under eye area. For the last 15 seconds you repeat the same for your t-zone, this time moving it in an up and down motion. You can then wash it off, or use a flannel/muslin cloth to remove the cleanser.

Pros
I've really enjoyed using this cleansing brush. There are so many out there these days but for £79, this is great value for money. My mum bought me the set which included the facial soap cleanser and only paid £60 because yaayy for duty free. The brush is light, waterproof and really portable making it ideal for travel. the bristles are really soft and gentle. It comes with a brush head protector and a charging station. One charge lasts 180 hours and I honestly can't remember the last time I even charged it, so it definitely lasts for ages. I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin since using this brush, it's looking healthier and brighter.

Cons
Unlike the Clarisonic or other cleansing brushes this vibrates rather than delivering high speed oscillations. My sister has a Clarisonic and I asked her to compare it to the Clinique brush. Her verdict? The Clarisonic was better. Like I said, for the price The Clinique brush is definitely worth it but if your looking for something that delivers a deeper cleanse and have the $$$$ to spend then I'd say to look into a rotating cleansing brushes.

Overall Verdict
I'd definitely recommend this brush, It's gentle, provides a deep clean, portable and the charge lasts for a lifetime(over-exaggeration for sure). You can purchase the brush here for £79.

That's all for now folks, Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

  1. I used to be a die-hard Clarisonic fan but I found that even the gentle exfoliation it provides is too much stimulation for my skin these days.

  3. This sounds like a decent and more affordable alternative to the Clarisonic. I've yet to try any of these devices...I just fear spending all that money on it and then neglecting it!!! xxx

  6. I love Clinique, it has the best skincare products in my opinion. I've seen this cleansing brush around and I'm quite curious about it, I just think I'm not very used to brushes for skin cleaning purposes, might give it a try!

  9. I'm using Olay Pro-X since year 2012/13 and it made a whole world of differences to my skin. Never thought of switching to Clarisonic though which I personally think is very overpriced. I am however planning to purchase Foreo Luna which has an anti-aging option.

  18. I've never actually tried any sort of brush cleansing product. For a while I had the clarisonic as a 'to buy' item but then for some reason erased it. It's just so expensive so that's probably why, good to hear that there are alternatives.

  27. Not too long ago, I reviewed a similar product on my blog here http://beautypeptalk.blogspot.com/2016/04/silvercrest-sonic-facial-cleansing.html and it seems like the two are quite similar, actually... Mine vibrates, too, and it's a similar size, but mine is even cheaper than that :D I don't think I even heard of that one by Clinique, since everyone keeps raving about Clarisonic.. I'm so happy to hear it performs better than that... Great review :) xx

  34. I'm a big clarisonic fan too but sometimes I find it not gentle enough. So I only use it maybe every skip a day. But I'm always interested in new ones and will have to check this one out. Thanks for sharing!

  37. Hello lovely, thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment, I thought it was only fair I did the same. I'm so happy I did because I've been so curious about this Clinique cleansing system. I had the Braun one and it broke almost instantly so I wouldn't mind trying another. This seems pretty good if I'm honest, x

  40. This sounds quite intriguing to be honest. I have a few of these different devices, but I don't use them much mainly because 1) I'm too lazy & 2) they really rip apart my skin if I use too frequently so... I tend to use my Clarisonic on occasion when my skin is REALLY in need of a good cleanse! xx adaatude.com

  41. Would you say it works for cystic acne? My skin's almost clean except for my chin due to hormonal breakouts... I'm scared that the brush will open the acne wounds.. Can anyone help? xx
