SHE'S ABOUT THAT RUNNING LIFE: SUN-DAY, RUN-DAY(1)

20.3.16

Hi guys, long time no see!

I can't believe it's been this long since I last blogged, but as usual life got in the way big time. Things have been a bit crazy for me and I'll probably do a life update at some point in the near future, when I feel ready to. In the meantime this post is going to be all about my new endeavour- running a half marathon, am I cray cray or what? Yes it's true I've signed up to run the Rock 'n' Roll Liverpool Half Marathon on the 29th May. I'm super excited but also super scared, I mean 13.1 miles is a scary feat. Training began on Monday, and so far so good. I'm following a beginners Nike plus half marathon training plan on the app, which I definitely recommend for any newbies or even seasoned runners out there.

I've been an on and off runner for about 3 years now. I got pretty serious about it last summer when I got really into my health and fitness stuff, but until this week I hadn't road ran (run outside) since the end of October and considering that, I'm really pleased with my progress. Running can be so weird though, I ran 8.6km on Wednesday and it was a breeze, ran 5km yesterday and it was HORRENDOUS. Honestly, the weather was awful and I could barely breathe from the strength of the wind. I was incredibly close to just fucking it off and running back home in those first five minutes, but I pushed through and completed those 3 miles. Thank god for my headphones to mask my crazy huffing and puffing haha!

I'm running for ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust), a British blood charity, who strive to increase the amount of Ethnic minorities on the stem cell, blood and organ donor register. I will be doing an in depth post about them and why I've chosen this charity. I'd really appreciate any donations at all, It's such a worthy cause and every little truly does help. You can visit my Just Giving page  here.

I'll be documenting my journey on here weekly, and you can expect a new running post every Sunday, just telling you how I'm getting, how |I'm feeling etc. etc. I'm so excited for the next 10 weeks, and I'm so ready to take on this challenge and share this journey with you all.

Peace&Love

P.S. So I currently don't have a camera, well a decent one anyway, so apologies for poor photos or lack of photos. Also, I've got a few beauty, fitness and food posts all coming up so keep a lookout for those. Hope everyone is well though!

  2. Wow, a half marathon, that is ambitious. But I am positive you can do it.

  4. I'm looking forward to your fitness updates between now and your half marathon! I also (massively) appreciate headphones to masking the sounds of heavy breathing when running haha.

  5. Good luck ! I'm sure you'll get to the finish line. I've done two 10 miles before never got to 13.1...I'm not in that kind of shape currently.
